One accent color only per communication

Accent color must be harmonious with content
When pairing an accent color with imagery, it’s important that they are harmonious. This can be achieved in two ways: complementary and analogous color pairings.
Analogous color pairing: choose a color that is similar to a detail in the photo or illustration.

Complementary color pairing: choose a color from the other end of the color spectrum.

For applications that have no image to pair with, or an image with no color, any color from the accent palette can be used.
Text color is determined by the background color
These examples ensure that Dropbox text always meets WCAG guidance for accessibility:

If the background is Graphite, the text can be the same light color from the accent palette used in the colored plane.

If the background is a dark color from the accent palette, the text should be Coconut.

If the background is a light color from the accent palette, the text should be Graphite.
Highlighting a word with color
It’s possible to highlight a specific word for emphasis. The color of the highlighted word should always be the same as the accent color.
